Last Chance Corral
Last Chance Corral is a rescue center for foals and adult horses. It was founded by and is managed by Victoria Goss. Goss grew up on a dairy farm in Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire. She has a passion for animals, evident by her constant care for her dogs, Valkyrie and Gerta, and her horses, all while enduring arthritis in her hands. Last Chance Corral works to adopt horses to responsible owners and has a small staff that takes care of the horses while they wait to be adopted. Many of these are nurse mare foals, a well-kept secret of the horse racing industry. In horse racing, adult horses are forced to have babies so that they will produce milk, which is then given to young race horses. The foal that is born as a result of this process is cast aside and left to die.
Although this is illegal, it happens a lot in horse racing, where profit comes first.
